Hello Peter, I came across Elizabeth Sproule while researching the Gubby name; however, there does not appear to be a connection to the line I am tracing. In case you do not know, Elizabeth married James Gubby in 1857 in Geelong, after his death she married Henry Hodge in 1895. I have seen some pages from a book about the Hodge family which gives details of her family. From memory, Frances Liomin did not marry and lived with Elizabeth's family. Good luck, Eril Willmott ----- Original Message ----- From: "Peter O'Sullivan" <sullivan2076@hotmail.com> To: <AUS-VIC-GEELONG-DISTRICT-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, November 29, 2003 11:31 PM Subject: [GEELONG] Surnames Sproule, Gubby, Liomin in Geelong area 1800s > Hello, > > I'm researching the family history of Elizabeth Sproule and Frances Liomin. > In 1855 both came to Geelong as assisteds abosrd the "Maria Hay". > Elizabeth came to join relatives but I have not been able to track down any > relatives in the Geelong area. > I also notice that there is a rock climbing formation called Liomin's Castle > in the Arapiles and was wondering how it got its name and if there was any > connection to Frances Liomin? > Can anyone help me with either query? > > Many Thanks, > > Peter > > _________________________________________________________________ > Hot chart ringtones and polyphonics.
