Carolyn The dairy was at 72 Roslyn Rd Belmont. Inhabited by Mrs P Martin . She is on the phone and is interested in the site I have passed your emails on to her and she was going into the historical centre in Geelong to try and get the early history of the Roslyn Rd area as it is her back yard that is moving. Certainly west Roslyn Rd at bottom of Highton Hill ie Bellevue Ave now, was a watercourse and east Roslyn Rd descends to the Barwon River flood plain. > Carollyn Williams > ----- Original Message ----- > From: Peter MacAuslan > To: AUS-VIC-GEELONG-DISTRICT-L@rootsweb.com > Sent: Sunday, November 02, 2003 8:38 AM > Subject: [GEELONG] Fw: Roslyn Road > > > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: Peter MacAuslan > To: AUS-VIC-GEELONG-DISTRICT-L@rootsweb.com > Sent: Tuesday, October 21, 2003 10:13 AM > Subject: Roslyn Road > > > My thanks to all who replied to my query > It has raised the query as to what preceded the dairy on the site. > What prompted the query was the movement of the ground in the back yards of the houses on the old dairy site. > James O'Connor mentions a cooling system with water pouring over the roof. > Where did the water go ? > Was a farm on the site before the dairy. > Also the exercise has shown that there is a mass of information on the Belmont /Highton area lying dormant just needing wakening. > There were springs in that area ??? > Thanks again > > Peter MacAuslan > > > ==== AUS-VIC-GEELONG-DISTRICT Mailing List ==== > Geelong Family History Group : > http://home.vicnet.net.au/~gfamhist/index.htm > > > ==== AUS-VIC-GEELONG-DISTRICT Mailing List ==== > Geelong and District web site : > http://www.zades.com.au/geelong/ > >
