Hello I would be very interested in information about any of the following families if anyone could help please. Daniel James McPHERSON, pilot married Frances Ann BOORE/ BOWE presumably before migrating to Australia where they spent at least some of their time around the Geelong area. Their children were: Anne Maria McPHERSON married Henry Molyneux NICHOLSON in 1861(There is apparently a photograph of an Ann Marie NICHOLSON in the book " Gold Reef and Silver Tussock : the History of the Shire of Leigh" but don't know of course if it could be my ancestor. Clara Louise McPHERSON married Rev Thomas QUINTON in Melbourne 1877 and is listed in the Bellarine Cemeteries Index 1938 William John McPHERSON (about 1852-1911) Daniel McPHERSON (1850-1905) James William McPHERSON (b 1844) There appear to be a number of references to Rev Thomas QUINTON in the Geelong area so maybe someone knows something about him which could give a few more clues to my McPHERSONs? Also I noticed there was a Frances Ann McPHERSON who died in 1896 at Bellarine and whose parents were Richard MOORE and Frances RUSS. Perhaps BOORE had been misinterpreted as MOORE? Thanks and best wishes Rosemary
Hello Rosemary, Firstly, to find out a bit about where Rev. Thomas QUINTON was living at various times, search our Bellarine names index for QUINTON - he had a habit of naming his children after parishes where he served as local minister. http://www.zades.com.au/bellhs/bpnmsrc1.asp i.e. Arlington Drysdale QUINTON (Portarlington & Drysdale on the Bellarine Peninsula) and Theodore Mornington QUINTON (Mornington Peninsula?) I'd also strongly suggest that you look at the QUINTON entries in our Geelong Book Index ....... http://www.zades.com.au/geelong/gdbksrc1.asp And don't forget to check the McPHERSON entries in the book index too! Have you got the death certificate for Frances Anne McPHERSON and does it show the name as MOORE or BOORE or what? It certainly shows MOORE in the index but that is ONLY an index - you can only be certain with the certificate. If you're unsure if this is the right person, then I suggest you follow up the entry/ies in the Geelong Advertiser ............ Again the Bellarine names index shows a reference to Frances Ann McPHERSON in the Geelong Advertiser in 1896 - if you look at the other McPHERSON entries in the Bellarine index it's pretty easy to pick up the pattern as you'll notice there's also a Capt D J McPHERSON with an entry in the Geelong Advertiser in 1896 - highly likely that this relates to Daniel James McPHERSON (pilot = capt) and his wife Frances Ann. I'll put you out of suspense and tell you that there was an article in the Addy on October 3, 1896 - summary (I DON'T have the article!) - Death 2/10/1896 at Drysdale of Frances Ann, 84 years, relict of Capt. D.J. McPHERSON. Funeral from the residence of her son-in-law, Rev. Thomas QUINTON, Drysdale, that day to Herne Hill Cemetery. So there's plenty there to keep you busy! Regards ......
