Shirley As in most families both now and in the past, but especially in the past. We have many, and I mean many in our lines who have used different names, as many were named after living rellies, so to stop confusion they used their middle names or an alias. This makes it hard when looking for your line, as many certificates have an incorrect name showing on them. Surnames were the same, our family name is 'Campbell' for the last two generations, although our gr grandfather was a 'Cambell' but he was illiterate, hence will still can not find who our lines are. All this means is our name has never been changed , but registrations at that time, you did not need any proof of who you were. Seeing many registrations of the past with "inaccurate" information, to say the least. Goodluck Fran :-)
