Hi Natalie, Edith and Helen WOOD were the owners and co-principals of St Andrew's School - according to "Model Borough: An Introduction to old Newtown and Chilwell" pp. 53-54, in the early 1950s they "re-located in the old Redpath home, 139 Noble Street". The sisters retired in 1978, St Andrew's was offered for sale but only closed for a few months before reopening February 1979 by a parents' company. There are a few references to James WOOD in our book index - not sure if any of those are your. http://www.zades.com.au/geelong/gdbksrc1.asp Regards ...... Hi Suzie, My husband tells me that St. Andrews was a Presbyterian school. His sister attended there in the 1950's, & was definitely Presbyterian. Cheers.....Wendy McLennan.
Thanks to all for the information on the Wood sisters. My impression from family stories is that the Wesleyan Methodist school was established probably in the mid-late 1800's. But it seems a bit of a coincidence that Wood sisters were owners of St. Andrews? I will have to look into it further.
