    1. [GEELONG] EGAN /LISTON
    2. Hello I am researching James Egan and Margaret Liston who married in Templetuohy parish Tipperary Aug 1858 and came to Australia before November 1859 when Margaret was witness to Richard Liston's marriage to Mary Dwyer. James Egans parents were given on his death certificate as Dennis Egan and Ellen King and his tombstone states Native of Moyne Tipperary as does Richard Liston's. Margaret Liston Egan's death certificate gives her parents as Thomas Liston and Margaret Healey. However Richard's were John Liston and Bridget Healey. Because of irish naming patterns I am inclinced to think that Margaret's parents were John and Bridget. There are NO Thomas Egans in our line. However to complicate matters a bit more I have been told that Margaret Liston a dairymain from Tipperary arrived in Australia aboard the Dirigo about 1859 and she is listed as a niece of Richard Liston - Would Margaret Liston Egan have travelled as Margaret Liston when she was married? I know from research that there are several James Egans but I would like to know if there were 2 Margaret Listons who arrived about the same time or just one. James Egan and Margaret Liston (name given as Lyster /Linton on childrens birth certificates) had the following children Dennis John James Bridget Ellen Margaret. Dennis died aged 22 - on his hospital record it states British Trident in brackets but his birth record 1859 shows Ashby. Did they family come out on the British Trident. John married Ellen Normoyle. James married Cath Gregory Bridget married a (John Phillip????) Singleton Ellen (Nell) and Margaret (Rita) never married. Could someone shed some light on this family please?? Julie
