    3. Hi Deidre, If your ROBERTSONs came via sea then you won't find them in the standard overseas passengers indexes but via intercoastal shipping - possibly from Sydney. Very little of this is indexed but many of the records that show passengers (and sometimes crew) will be at the PROV in Melbourne!!!!! So right on your doorstep. If they came from Queensland or NSW or Tas, then it's highly unlikely they landed at Point Henry - more likely Geelong as they were in smaller ships that could get across the sandbar or through the smaller channels to Geelong - it was the larger overseas ships that had to anchor off Point Henry. Remember of course that many people came overland and for the period you mentioned, there were plenty of railways. Of course being a shipwright it's more likely that they came via sea - people like that rather have an afinity for the ocean! <vbg> It would also be worth you checking the Geelong Advertiser indexes - you'd need to get to the Geelong Heritage Centre for that.
