List members I seek members assistance re the remarriage of my ggg grandmother Martha Jennings (nee Woolner) to Edward Coulson in Chilwell on 1 Sept 1852 in the Wesleyan Church. The marriage certificate lists them as widow/widower respectively and members of, or hold communion with, the Wesleyan Church. The minister was a Frederick Lewis and witnesses George Gaylard and Fanny Shugg, both of Chilwell. Martha came to Australia in 1841 with husband George and daughter Mary Ann on the Queen Victoria, landing in Sydney on 26 July 1841. Three more children were subsequently born in Sydney - George (1842), William (1844) & Mary Ann (1847). Mary Ann's birth certificate is hard to read, and appears to be that she was born in Sydney on 10/8/1847 & christened in the Wesleyan Church in Geelong the following year. The 2 sons later became C of E ministers in the Vic country areas around Lilydale. Mary Ann married Charles Clarke in Melbourne in 1865. Father George was a carpenter apparently and is believed to have died at sea after the birth of Mary Ann & before the remarriage of his wife Martha. No death certificate can be found yet Martha remarried (as above) in 1852. She is listed on a page/section titled 'Geelong & Vicinity' in a 'Victorian Directory' dated 1851 as a teacher in Chilwell. What evidence would she have had to produce to remarry again? Any thoughts on how we discover the details of George's death? Kind regards Keith Jennings Brisbane
