    3. I've only heard of it as a card game, when I looked it up its a 18th game for four persons with forty cards. Perhaps they had a special office in Geelong in the early days for people to register. The possibilities are endless and mind boggling. Dianne Hughes

Quadrille also has equestrian connotations "Class 24 QUADRILLE COMPETITION TO MUSIC Entry Fee per team: $ 88 GST inclusive Refundable Bond: $55 Prizes to the value: 1st $200 2nd $160 3rd $100 4th $80 5th & 6th Rosettes Special prize for the best costume CONDITIONS OF ENTRY Designed to present attractive & entertaining spectacle for the audience in the Indoor Arena on Sunday 24th March Teams of 4 riders entered by groups of HRCAV, PCAV or EFA members Open to horses or ponies aged 5 years or older (foaled before 31/7/97) Work may be shown to a maximum of EFA medium level. The test should take minimum 4 ½ minutes with a maximum of 5 mins. The quadrille scored on Choreography, Music and technical execution. Marked out of 100 for each section Gear - Snaffle or double bridle, whips and spurs maybe used. Costume is optional. Teams maybe in costume or regulation (PCAV, HRCAV or EFA) attire. Bandages and other decoration of horses are allowed. Appropriate headgear and boots must be worn, however hats can be decorated. If excessive entries, entries will be taken on a first in basis Judges - 3, one to be from outside the normal panel EFA dressage rules will apply to situations not covered above. Test to start and finish with a compulsory salute. Riders to leave arena at walk Mounted presentation Arena familiarisation between 7 and 8 am on Sunday 24th March for quadrille riders. Music must be handed to Secretary by 9.00 am on Sunday 24th March.
