    3. Hi Ian, Sorry, I can't help much with the photo other than to recommend a book "Dating Family Photos 1850-1920" by Lenore Frost. I don't have it myself, but my sister does and says it's quite helpful. BTW, I have some Donaldson's in my tree. They originate in Tasmania- John Henry Donaldson b. abt. 1821 Scotland and Mary Beach. They had 13 children. Is this familiar ?
