    3. Hi Amanda I posted this question yesterday to this list, but I will ask you if you could please see if these names & places are mentioned in your 1858 Geelong Directory. I have been privileged to have received a part of a copy of a newspaper article that was written in Feb 1851. It describes a grass fire that burnt a large area at a place called Lake Golar. Names & places in 1851 mentioned are - Mr RAWLINGS farm. Mr Martin DENT farm about 1.5 miles (2.4 kms) away from Mr Rawlings. Lake Golar about 15 miles (24 kms) away from Mr Rawlings. Geelong is about 12 miles (20 kms) to Mr Martin DENT's farm. Is this enough clues to allow someone to give me an idea of where this is located & where or how would I find a map of this area, then & / or now ? I would be most grateful for any help please. Kind Regards Col ----- Original Message ----- From: "Amanda" <greenthumbs@bigpond.com> To: <AUS-VIC-GEELONG-DISTRICT-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, February 18, 2004 5:50 PM Subject: [GEELONG] 1858 Geelong Directory lookup offer > Hi All, > > While cleaning up one of my grandmothers bookcases, I came across an 1858 > Geelong Directory containing street guide, addresses and listings of trades > and professions, churches, chapels, schools etc etc. > > If anyone would like me to look up a name or a street please contact me > directly. > > Amanda greenthumbs@bigpond.com > > > > > ==== AUS-VIC-GEELONG-DISTRICT Mailing List ==== > Geelong & District Towns and Regions : > http://www.zades.com.au/geelong/gdtown.htm > > > __________ NOD32 1.626 (20040217) Information __________ > > This message was checked by NOD32 antivirus system. > http://www.nod32.com > >
