G'day Thanks to Jennifer, Bob & Liz for your replies. They were most helpful. The period that the studio was in operation fits nicely in with the information that I have. My gggranny was born in 1833 and the person in the photo appears to be 30-40ish so that is in the range of 1865 -1886. I will check the books suggested and see if I can get the date a little closer. When she first came here in 1853 her occupation was that of a dressmaker, so I would guess that if it was her, she would have the latest fashion! Thanks again for all your interest. I could forward on a copy of the picture I anyone thought that it would help give me some clues. >
