    1. [GEELONG] Re: AUS-VIC-GEELONG-DISTRICT-D Digest V04 #58
    2. As a music teacher, I have been familiar with QUADRILLE as an old dance form, but in checking my Webster's dictionary (9th Collegiate--old as sin!) I find that it is also: n.1. group of knights engaged in a counsel... 2.four-handed variant of ombre popular esp in the 18th C. 3.a square dance for four couples made up of five or six figures chiefly in 6/8 and 2/4 time: music for this dance. adj. ....(ca.1885)....marked with squares and rectangles. So much for my input. Bless you all helping each other in this genealogical quest! Marylyn D. Adams Ocala, FL USA
