The Larpent was the first ship chartered under a J. D Lang immigration scheme which arrived in Geelong in 1849. J.D.Lang purchased land in Australia then returned to England and sold the land in ten and twenty acre farms with a passage to Australia to these The Larpent passengers. My Great Great Grandfather and his family were passsengers on this ship. Has anyone information on the allocation of land at Larpent (west of Colac) and any other details of this time in the Colac district - 1849 - 1851. I have heard that there is a group that meets periodically and are descendants of The Larpent passengers. Does anyone know how I make contact with this group? I have accessed the information at the Geelong Historical Centre but would appreciate any further information on this group and the land allocation/times at Larpent. Thanks Mary Holmes
