Pam and Amanda, I have some more details to add to the HIRST information provided by Amanda (who I am related to through several Geelong lines!). I am related through CATHERINE FLORENCE WILLIAMS who married LEWIS HIRST. Catherine was the sister of my grandfather ALFRED PERCY WILLIAMS (children of ROBERT & HANNAH WILLIAMS nee PROUT). 1881 Census: Hard End, Marsden in Almondbury, Yorkshire. Godfrey Hirst, head, age 24, worsted weaver, born Holmfirth, Yorkshire Sarah Hirst, wife, age 28, born Meltham, Yorkshire Willie Hirst, son, age 3, born Meltham, Yorkshire Lewis Hirst, son, age 5 months, born Marsden, Yorkshire Ann Carter, wife's sister, unmarried, age 35, retired confectioner, born Meltham. LEWIS HIRST was born on 7 November 1880, Marsden. JOSEPH HIRST was born and died in 1882, June quarter for both in St Cath's index, Huddersfield Registration District. LEWIS & CATHERINE are both buried at Springvale Crematorium. I would love to see the Hirst family information when you have finished. Cheers Gail White
