Hello Mary, Ian Wynd has written a book on J D Lang's Immigration Scheme - 3 ships to Vic, 3 to Qld, and some passengers on a ship to NSW. Ian had pretty much finished his book before he died last year. It is in final stages of indexing for publishing this year. It includes what I believe is the most comprehensive list of passengers for the ships in Lang's Scheme. Sorry - I haven't found any information yet on the Larpent descendants group but hopefully someone here can help. Until the index is complete I can't confirm exactly what's in the book - but you neglected to mention any name so that didn't help much! Regards ......... just as an aside, on of my rellies was born on board. he was called john dunmore. guess who HE was named after. i thought lang only had fortitude and portland. our lot came in portland. 1837 i think from memory. seems he rounded up the good presbyterians to populate our country and not his catholic irish. apparently he bought up blocks of land, and then resold them to the immigrants. anyone can correct me on anything.... must have been a visionary. just before his time. robyn shaw. toowoomba. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Susie Zada" <szada@zades.com.au> To: <AUS-VIC-GEELONG-DISTRICT-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, January 11, 2004 5:53 AM Subject: Re: [GEELONG] The Larpent > Hello Mary, > > Ian Wynd has written a book on J D Lang's Immigration Scheme - 3 ships to > Vic, 3 to Qld, and some passengers on a ship to NSW. > > Ian had pretty much finished his book before he died last year. Thanks Suzie The book sounds just what I am looking for and I will look forward to its publication. The name I am looking for is Holmes - Edward Carter Holmes and Sarah Holmes and daughter Frances. Albert Madge Holmes and Robert Teek were also passengers I believe.
