Pat, I am researching a Daly family which arrived in Geelong. My GGG Grandfather Daniel (or Morgan) Delaney married a Julia O'Brien. Julia's sister Annie O'Brien married a Patrick Daly. They had six children that I know off - Michael, Daniel, Hannah, Patrick, John and Ellen. I have only been able to put a family together for John Daly who married Margaret Crough in 1878. The Delaneys & the Dalys were cousins. The name OLIVE is written on a map of the 1851 subdivision of the village of Ceres in the Barrabool Hills. David Fisher created the township then, and 'Olive' may have bought or leased a small block there either before or after the sale - details are confused. The map is 17/60 in the historical maps collection at the Geelong Heritage Centre, and it takes strong spectacles and a lot of faith to read it. I have not found any other reference to the name in the district, and would be glad to learn more.
