I am looking for any further information on William Burrows and his family. Below is from a inscription from the St Enuy (Redruth cemetery Cornwall), for his wife. Catherine Tonkin (ne Gray) their daughter and wife of William BURROWS Mayor of Geealong died 8/9/1859
William BURROW born at St. Columb Cornwall in 1816, arrived in Sydney 1844. Station master on the Liverpool plains with experiences with bushrangers and Aborigines. In Geelong he started business as a storekeeper, but subsequently was extensively engaged in land dealings. He died in Toorak in 1890. William Burrow and others purchased the ship Earl of Charlemont and cargo for £900 after it was wrecked at Barwon Heads 1853, Alderman William Burrow in 1855 and 1857, Mayor William Burrow 1858/60, still an Alderman in 1863, 1856 Committee of Management Flinders National School (now Matthew Flinders Girls' Secondary School), a director of the Company which built the Geelong Williamstown railway.
