Hi again List, Posting some more interests for the New Year. William Hill JAMES came to Geelong around 1854 after arriving in SA from Cornwall (via Ireland) with several children from his first marriage to his first wife, Cecelia Harris REYNOLDS. With him came his fourth wife Grace Anna TUCKER (known as Anna or Annie). William was the first Electric Telegraph master at Geelong (third in Vic after Melbourne and Williamstown). (His son from his first marriage, Thomas Reynolds JAMES, became Assistant Postmaster general in Melbourne.) If anyone knows where it may be possible to obtain information about the Electric Telegraph office in Geelong between 1854 and 1861, when William died while at work, I would be most grateful if you could let me know. I would also be very interested in making contact with any of William's descendants. Children of William and Grace Anna who married were: Charles Lemon JAMES m Ann COLEMAN 1871 Geelong John King JAMES m Janet STENHOUSE 1881 William Hill JAMES m Alice Catherine HINKS 1877 Ermina Henritta JAMES m Edward Alfred RASTON 1878 WA Kathleen Ellen JAMES m Joseph HILL 1907 Geelong Alfred Edward JAMES m Christina SAGER 1884 Geelong James William Jewell JAMES (b 1861 Geelong, details not known) (?)
