    3. Dear Pat, Many thanks for that. The birth you quote is indeed one of mine, even though the mother's name is given as Lidell instead of Sidell. This is a transcription error which frequently occurred. I am in two minds about the shipping item. If it is them, then either they were married before they came to Australia - in which case why put St Pauls Melbourne, 1854 as the date of marriage? Or, on the other hand, perhaps they met outside Aust and travelled as man and wife. Unfortunately both John O'Shannassy and Mary Ann are not uncommon names, so it's hard to tell. If they weren't actually married at all, I wonder why not, seeing that they had 4 or 5 children? Many puzzles! 3. G'day Alwynne, He's beginning to sound like one of mine.. Dr Robert John Stuart-Robertson, married 6 times (that I know of) in Australia in 3 different states, 2 of the marriages at the same time so he got done for bigamy in NSW (the 2nd wife of that case, married 3 times but had 2 children by him before they got married!). He was well known for telling "porkies", had several different aliases, served time in NSW, SA & Q'ld for passing bad cheques. He was also charged with malpractice (accelerating a death) in Victoria.. No wonder his son became a politician & a member of the NSW Parliament! Cheers... Pat...
