    3. I have just been reading through the extra death listings on a page of Geelong 1860 deaths and have noticed there is a chap who's death was recorded under the name WILLIAM MEANEY but went by the name GEORGE CLARK. I've had no success at locating the details of a couple of my ancestor's deaths whom I'm sure died in Australia and most probably in Victoria, so I know what it's like to hit a brick wall. The details on the certficiate are: WILLIAM MEANEY aka GEORGE CLARK Died: 6th December 1860 at Geelong Hospital Profession: Seaman Age: 50 Cause of death: Bronchitis Attended by: D. B. Reid, Surgeon Father & Mother: Not listed Informant: D. B. Reid, Surgeon, Hospital Buried: 6th or 8th [ hard to read ] December 1860 at Cemetery, Geelong. Undertaker: John Jenkins Minister & Witness: - Born: London Lived In Victoria :13 years No mention of a marriage or children A note on the certificate reads "Deceased assumed the name of George Clark, but when dying desired his name to be recorded as William Meaney which he declared to be his correct name". Hope this info is of help to someone regards Brenda

    3. G'day Brenda, Out of curiosity I checked the Pioneer Index and found that his death was listed under both names with the same Reg # though I'm sure many others weren't. He wasn't one I been fruitlessly chasing but thanks for posting it on the list. Cheers... Pat..
