Hi listers I was indexing a book for the Geelong Book Index, a history of the Geelong Orphan Asylum/ Glastonbury, and found this timeline in the back that may be of interest to some 1856 First children admitted to the Orphan Asylum at Herne Hill 1887 Incorporated as The Geelong Orphan Asylum 1909 Name changed to Geelong and Western District Protestant Orphanage 1933 Building at Belmont opened and Herne Hill closed 1954 Glastonbury Children's Home adopted as the new name 1974 Opening of the first family group home 1977 Formal registration of the name Glastonbury Children's Home 1977 Purchase of St Cuthbert's children's home in Colac 1979-81 Total conversion to family group homes - children no longer in residence at Glastonbury. 1984 Name changed to Glastonbury Child and Family Services.
