G'day Here is an interesting question, well at least to me! My great grandmother had 2 children from her first marriage, and following the death of her husband, she remarried and had a further 8 children. My family line comes from the second marriage, and I have just made contact with a person who is from the first marriage and she also is also a great grandchild. Now my question is, what is my relationship to her? As a secondary question just where was Duneed in the 1850s? Thanks and regards Ian Donaldson
Ian, I would say you are 2nd cousins with the same blood great grandmother - altho I do not have the same scenario in my tree I tried the calculation on my geneology program and it came up 2nd cousin as there is a common ancestor. Perhaps 1/2 2nd cousin? I would be interested to know what others think. Is Duneed, Mt Duneed between Geelong and Torquay? G'day Carolyn & Ian, I ran a mock tree in legacy and came up with Half 2nd cousin. Mount Duneed is also most likely but not sure when the Mount was introduced.. bfn John Carollyn Williams wrote: >Ian, > I would say you are 2nd cousins with the same blood great grandmother - altho I do not have the same scenario in my tree I tried the calculation on my geneology program and it came up 2nd cousin as there is a common ancestor. Ian, You would be Half 2nd Cousins. Normally you'd be 2nd Cousins if you both had the same great-grandparents, but you put the half in there because your grandparents were Half siblings. Sorry, I can't help you with Duneed.
