Hello Janine, tis quite a while since my old address was functioning... My GG Grandfather(William Whitehand) married Sarah Ellett(aka)Elliott shortly after the demise of his first wife. Seems Sarah herself died in the Geelong Gaol two years lateras a "lunatic".in 1857 Inquest papers indicate the Elliotts had connections with an Hotel "Help me through the world" in the Leopold area. "Wild and Wonderous Women of Geelong 1838- 1859" pge 75 published by the Bellarine Historical Society contains extracts from my research at the time.. hope this helps, bfn John Whitehand janine wilson wrote: > Hi, I was looking through the archives and found some information in an old thread[2002] about a sarah whitehead who died in old geelong gaol in about 1857. > I think the poster was a john whitehead? and she was the second wife of his GGGrandfather..I tried emailing but it bounced so I am guessing he may have changed addresses or no longer be a member. > > I would love to hear any further information on sarah if anyone has it please.. > > thank you..janine > ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ > For on-line indexes and information on Geelong and District > http://www.zades.com.au > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message > >
