    3. Hello Matt I have a few snippets on the ULBRICH family once they came to Williamstown (he was headteacher of Williamstown North SS), but know little of his background or his time in Bellarine. He was german, I believe, and he ran his school with military precision, bawled out his teachers in front of other members of staff, locked children in outside privies for punishment and forgot about them, trained his sons and capable students in markmanship, sons interested in schoolteaching and military pursuits. I know years ago I collected much information from education correspondence, and from "Special Files". It was reported in the "Williamstown Chronicle" 24 Oct 1874 that he was building a new home at the rear of North Willliamstown School in Station Street which was to be ten or eleven rooms with detached premises (It was noted that he intended to here board pupil-teachers who would pay for their tuition). I'm not sure if he had permission for such from the Education powers, but I vaguely remember that the boarders complained of the "in house" chores demanded of them, even though they were paying boarders. But it's nearly thirty years ago I did that research and, whilst those snippets stay in my memory, the actual research notes are long gone. I do have a couple of short notes on two of his sons from local newspapers, also, if they interest you. Regards Ada Ada Ackerly.
