Joan, The infporamtion I have starts with James Stewart/Stuart b 1712 Abelour Banff m 1740 Jean McKeran. I have only one child so far the William who in 1740 married Margaret Grant b 1717. Her parents were ALEXANDER GRANT and Christian McInisher. It is quite possible that there were more children and As a coinincidence a descendant of this family married a Annie Young from Abelour after WW2. They met on a shhip as she was coming out to serve 2 years as the flyning dentist in Charters Towers.( Family names of this line Brims and Sinclair) WIll keep looking out as I research and let you kmow if I find any more. Hello Robyn I apologise for the delay in replying, I'm afraid I misplaced your email. I have not been able to get back as far as the early 1700's but I also have the name GRANT in the family tree although this is from a second marriage of my gg grandfather William Stewart who married Helen GRANT in 1848. They came to Australia in 1853 with their 2 daughter's Mary & Frances and settled in Geelong, Vic. Although my g grandfather Alexander was only 13 years of age [from the 1st marriage] he did not arrive with them and I still have not found his entry into Australia. I have not come across any GORDON's in my research as yet. Sorry again for the delay.
