I have noticed frequent list requests which are simply headed "Lookup request" or similar wording. Many people such as me who do not have the resources to do lookups probably simply ignore these messages, whereas if the family name/s were also included, they might ring a bell with such list members, and result in an answer, rather than just being ignored. Why not try it! John, Bathurst, NSW.
Great suggestion John, I too don't have access to CD's etc but I have a deal of family data that I could share. Putting a Name and a general Locality could make these lists more interesting for a lot of us who merely sit around waiting for that little tid-bit of information that might just fill in a gap. Our data may also help others to fill in their gaps and give us more contacts or, even, lost relatives. -- Regards, Chris Nelson 03 9894 1432 0418 348 541 PO Box 314 Nunawading Victoria 3131 Australia "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic." -- Arthur C. I have just had an experience where I asked for look ups for JUDD's on the BDM CD's which I am very grateful for receiving the information from a couple of kind people, as I do not have access to them. Thank you to those people, they know who they are. Problem then emerged that I did not agree with some of the information that I had already in my records, thought I must have had it wrong. I had the headstones read and they did not agree with dates and NAMES on CD's. From there I had the cemetery records checked and they agree with the headstones, so somewhere along the line it seems the transcribing on to the CD's has slipped up. Thought it worth letting you know that they are worth checking if you are not sure they are correct.
