Goodmorning everybody, I need some help to sort out the children of my two Jackson brothers please. I have William Jackson arriving to Point Henry on the "Andromache" in 1849. On the same voyage is Maria Neal and her parents and siblings. After arrival William and Maria marry and I would like to know the names of their children please? Some time later, perhaps just a few years Williams brother Robert arrives in Victoria. I don't know if he is married at home in Norfolk or gets married on arrival to Geelong but I would like to know the names of all his children please. I'm fairly sure Robert had at least two children... Robert born Geelong c1855 and Henry born Lower Murray c1859. The name of Roberts wife would be an added bonus if possible please. Both men were born in Norfolk c 1825. A round trip to the nearest gene library or LDS is nearly 3 hours so any help and information about these brothers would be wonderfull. many thanks Ann in Brisbane

Hi Jennifer, thank you so much for your help. I will work through them all and then I can see where they travelled across Victoria and NSW. I couldn't find Kildare on any online map of Vic. so searched for Kildare St and there is one in North Geelong near Bell Park so perhaps that was a settlement in the early days. Jennifer, may I ask another favour please? Could you see if there is a marriage record for Robert Laws JACKSON to Rachel STAPLETON? Up till your email I couldn't find a wife for Robert and the PROV online database has been out of service since the weekend so I am unable to check the Immigration Records to see if he arrived with a wife or not. thanks you so much Ann ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jennifer Crockett" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, May 22, 2007 10:07 AM Subject: Re: [GEELONG] William and Robert JACKSON > Hi again Ann > > This might be Robert's child Robert. Hi Ann There is no marriage recorded in Victoria for Robert and Rachel, and I couldn't find one on the NSW online database either. I checked the Immigration CD for Victoria which starts at 1852 and couldn't find any likely candidates. There are a few "Robert Jackson and family" arriving in Sydney - from NSW State Records online database http://www.records.nsw.gov.au/archives/indexes_online_3357.asp#Immigrati onampShippi in the time period, but no Rachel. Nor does the NSW immigration list have any likely candidates in its Port Phillip arrivals database. The only thing I can suggest, since they spent some time in Geelong, is to see if the local history centre there has anything like hospital records which sometimes give the ship of arrival. http://home.vicnet.net.au/%7Egfamhist/index.htm If I can help with anything else, just let me know. Hi Anne One other thought - the death certificate of Robert and Rachel's child who died in Victoria: Surname: JACKSON Given Names: William Robert Event: D Spouse Surname/Father: Robert Spouse Gvn Names/Mother: Rachel STAPLETON Age: 2 Sex: Birth Place: NSW Death Place: Year: 1855 Reg Number: 3396 Should give details of any siblings of this child - named if still alive, with ages: just gender if deceased. If there are any older children, perhaps born in England, that may indicate Robert and Rachel were married before arrival in Australia.
