Hi Liz and others At the time you are asking about, I'm pretty sure it was a legal requirement for the jurors at an inquest to actually view the body as part of the proceedings. Needless to say, without refrigeration, the inquest was held as soon as possible after death, usually within 24 hrs. Cheers Tony Scott
