    3. Hi all, I may have given a wrong impression on my find: First, there is a listing of EVERY teacher employed at 31 June 1858, in EVERY National School in Victoria. Second, there are individual returns from schools listing their staff. The first is not alphabetically arranged, numbers 62 pages of closely written columns, without naming the actual school. That's what I thought I might photograph and then index. The second, the individual sheets for each school, sometimes have a staff of one, usually two, and sometimes up to 5 teachers named. That's the one I have been transcribing (and tried to photograph) this week. That's the one I have drawn off the Geelong schools for email. In the meantime (third) , I had been transcribing the applications by individuals to be teachers 1852 on). I think I sent an email about a year ago of those who claimed Geelong connections, and I have a few more to add later (1856 on ) in a future message. I am now transcribing 1861/2 letters But now: VPRS 880/p0 Unit 63 Individual National Schools & staff: GEELONG Ashby: Collins, Patrick Robert, teacher, salary £80 appointed 1 May 1856, Age 42, school hours 9-4 born Dublin Chof England Collins, Elizabeth, workmistress, salary £24 appointed 1 May 1856 age 26, school hours 9-4 born Dublin, Ch of England. Interestingly, one sheet, for Berwick and Belmont schools was filled out by the same man, with identical mistakes in the entries. . I don't think there was a Belmont near Berwick, and I do know there was one near Geelong, so here it is, just in case it's Geelong: BELMONT Ryder, John, master, salary £104 appointed Dec 1856, age 40, school hours 9.30-4, born Plymouth, Wesleyan Free Church Thankyou for your kind suggestions on my inept photographic skills with a digital SLR. I'm close to feeling like entering the home for the bewilded! Who would know I did a lot of professional photography and restoration over 40 years. Regards Ada Ada Ackerly. Many of these schools with staff, etc have gone up on the groups: Geelong, Goldfields, Gippsland, Western District, to which I subscribe. There are some central/Northern Victoria schools that I have not put up, because I'm not really sure of the boundaries of them, and I'm not a subscriber. Perhaps someone from those areas/groups, could pick out the schools from the above lists to let me know? I may put up the Melbourne & suburbs on the Melbourne group in a few days, but lots of typing for that! Regards Ada Ada Ackerly.
