Thanks Kaye, that makes it clear. I had interpreted your original posting as meaning by "his father was a Grellet" that somehow Carl Schultz was the Grellet's son, which was very stupid of me. Of course your interpretation makes very good sense, and I don't think it's too far-fetched by any means. I wonder if Julian had been married when Johanna had her baby, and was only able to marry her after his first wife died. There must be a fascinating story in there, and I hope you can get it all sorted out and then tell us about it. Cheers Marion
Marion, I was trying to sort out this dead end before my father passed away. Unfortunately he died in May , before we found this scenario. I will certainly tell everyone when we have proven it.............well not sure how we do that 100% but we will try. I would like to check census for 1860-1870s in Geelong or near vicinity for Schulz JErgensen and Grellet and see if they were all living nearby. I found a reference to an insolvency on one of the Geelong websites for Christian Joregensen of Clunes 28 Sep 1860. I wonder if anyone can tell me how to get the original document............... Kaye www.bananatv.com/familytreechecklist.htm
