William FARMER was a sailor accidently drowned in Corio Bay in 1849. There is an inquest listed for him but not for FOWLER or KIRKUS. The Geel Addie indicates that 3 crew drowned. Now the 2 Williams' above may or may not be "3 of the crew". The 3rd man may not have been recovered hence no mention of another burial OR his body may not have been recovered until some time later - hence another date of death other than 4th Dec. My suggestion would be to look at the Inquests of some or all of the above and see what connections can be found. kind regards, Pam Jennings ----- Original Message ----- From: "Lynne Tocher" <lintoch@pnc.com.au> To: <AUS-VIC-GEELONG-DISTRICT@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, October 21, 2009 10:41 AM Subject: [GEELONG] Drowning >I am interested in a mishap which occurred first Sunday in 1849 when a >ship/dinghy from Victor overturned as it was returning the Master , Captain >Kirkus to his barque after church.
