Good afternoon all, I have been searching for a town name and have come to a dead end, after hitting my head many times against the "brick wall", so am now asking if anyone is able to help please. I have a death listed in 1915 as taking place at "Watta" I have NO IDEA what this is shortened from. What I do know is that the information came from the Digger Disc and I have found no mention of this name before. Other members of this family line have all come from the area including "Geelong, Boonah, Deans Marsh, Birregurra and Darlington. So if anyone knows where this place is I would be grateful to know. Thanking you all, Melissa

It must be a big place as there were hundreds of deaths there but all I can think of is Wangaratta which isn't really in your area of interest! Hi Melissa, Without a name or registration number, it's impossible to be certain. My first instinct is to guess "Wangaratta" BUT to try to take the guesswork out, have a look at my web page on how to do this ............. http://zades.com.au/gandd/index.php/thisthat/vicbdmind Regards .............. Melissa, Watta is usually used for Wangaratta but the abbreviations are not mutually exclusive, John Sebire, Lilydale On Monday 19 Oct 2009 18:03:22 BJ MJ Hallyburton wrote: > Good afternoon all, > I have been searching for a town name and have come to a dead end, after > hitting my head many times against the "brick wall", so am now asking if > anyone is able to help please. > > I have a death listed in 1915 as taking place at "Watta" > > I have NO IDEA what this is shortened from. > > What I do know is that the information came from the Digger Disc and I have > found no mention of this name before.
