Hello Does anyone know what became of this man? He was born in 1829 in St. Clement Danes, Westminster, UK, son of Thomas BEACHIM and Sarah COLEFORD. I have him in the 1841 and 1851 UK censuses but can't find him in later ones, or a death registration. But I found an entry for him (& I presume it is him) in the Victoria Government Gazette of 1862 - "1862,17th April - In the Insolvent Estate of Zebedee Pryce BEACHIM, of Geelong, in the colony of Victoria (Australia), book-keeper." I couldn't find a passenger list entry either. Any suggestions? Thanks Margaret Smith

Hello, Susie and Chris Thanks for your tips and information regarding Zebedee. If he married Elizabeth MOORE before 1859 however, the Zebedee BEACHIM who's on the 1860 passenger list may not be the right one although the age is about right. (There seemed to be a lot of Zebedee BEACHIMs in Somerset which is where this Zeb's father was born.) But each little clue helps so thanks again. Hi Margaret, With a little bit of creative searching using wildcards you'll find most of the answers here ... http://tinyurl.com/7acn6 using both INWARD and OUTWARD passengers ........... Jan 1853 - Tebedee BEECHAM, age 24 (obviously incorrect age) arrived on the ship "John Melhuish" 1859 - birth and death of child Zebedee registered (aged 9 days) Jun 1859 - Mr Z BEACHIM, age adult - sailed for Southampton on ship "Oneida" Jan 1860 - arrived, age 35, on ship "Southampton" 1860 - birth of child Alice registered Apr 1862 - insolvent - in Geelong gaol 1863 - birth of child Myrtle registered Nov 1864 - sailed for London on ship "Marco Polo" [shown as T B BEACHIM - most likely Z P BEACHIM] 1865 - birth of child Sarah registered Jul 1865 - Mrs Elizabeth sailed for London on ship "Lincolnshire" with children James (11), John (9), Alice (5), and Myrtle (3) It was quite normal for wife and children to travel on a different ship to husband.
