    3. Could it be AYREY? -----Original Message----- From: aus-vic-geelong-district-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:aus-vic-geelong-district-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Dale Watts Sent: Friday, 20 November 2009 7:34 AM To: AUS-VIC-GEELONG-DISTRICT@rootsweb.com Subject: [GEELONG] Place name AYRI I have some 1860's Victorian births at AYRI. When I looked at contiguous registrations they are all from the Geelong area. I have searched Google and the Zada website but can find no references to it. 3. I have found only 2 registrations. One person is named James Ayrie Bennett - one could maybe assume that he is named for his place of birth. Maybe it is a mispelling of Ayrey or Airey. Are either of these bona fide locations? 3. My source has AYREY at longitude 143.8 and latitude 38.3. My calculations are that would be about half way between Colac and Winchelsea near or on the highway. Perhaps a Colac or Winchelsea local may know more. It a while since I've been through there.
