Thanks Nola & Susie for confirming it's the site and not my computer! Susie, I'm not even sure there will be an entry as it's for Debbie BECKWITH who passed away last year and was 'privately cremated' (according to G.Addy) so unless her ashes have been buried with someone already interred in one of the G&D cemeteries.....it was just a shot in the dark. She was the teacher of a little boy (relative) who was wanting to visit her grave but I explained to them that there may not even be one to visit. Thanks again Debbie Geelong
Hi Debbie, You would definitely need to ring Geelong Cemeteries Trust tomorrow - they may be able to fill you in on more details - she would only be included in the database if she (her ashes) was interred at one of the GCT cemeteries. Hi Debbie - the Geelong Cemeteries Trust website is based on a mapping system so unfortunately unless cremated remains are placed at a specific loation at one of the Trust cemeteries, they will not appear in the website database. Hence cremated remains which get collected by the funeral director or the family will never appear but of course families may take some time to make placeing arrangments / or waiting for a plaqye to be made, so it may be worth waiting a little longer to see if that happens in due course. regards, Pam Jennings ----- Original Message ----- From: "Debbie" <debbie@rileyellett.com> To: <AUS-VIC-GEELONG-DISTRICT-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, March 22, 2010 2:08 PM Subject: [GEELONG] Help with Geelong Cemeteries Trust online site - thanks > Thanks Nola & Susie for confirming it's the site and not my computer! > Susie, I'm not even sure there will be an entry as it's for Debbie > BECKWITH who passed away last year and was 'privately cremated' (according > to G.Addy) so unless her ashes have been buried with someone already > interred in one of the G&D cemeteries.....it was just a shot in the dark. > She was the teacher of a little boy (relative) who was wanting to visit > her grave but I explained to them that there may not even be one to visit. > Thanks again > Debbie > Geelong > ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ > For on-line indexes and information on Geelong and District > http://zades.com.au > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to > AUS-VIC-GEELONG-DISTRICT-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' > without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
