    3. Hi Dennis, There are 482 deaths of John Smiths registered in Victoria from 1836 to 1888 - with some work we could eliminate many. However it would be nigh on impossible to determine which - if any - of the John Smith's is yours. As for Sarah Smith nee Tonks - that is a little more easy to work out if her parents names are given - that is her father is Tonk Tunks or Tonks. No such death record in Victoria exists to 1888 You are unfortunately researching a very common name and without further information it would be almost impossible to find them.     3. Dale I should have thought how difficult it would be to track a John Smith. I have only just started on this family and I believe that John and Sarah probably came to Australia with their children around 1850, but I cannot confirm this. I do not even know how many children there would have been - there were definitely two boys - the other being Stephen William. If I come up with anything else I will get back to you, if you are still interested.
