Hi Pam, Think it is the old measurements, fractions of an "Acre" of land, that is "Rood" and "Perches" (think that is how you spell it). Kind regards, Sue (Tropical North Queensland, Australia) > From: "Pam & Trevor Jennings" <pje23513@bigpond.net.au> > > Wonder if anyone knows what the phrase 'R & P' means in correspondence in Land Files at PROV? > thanks for any suggestions, Pam Jennings > _________________________________________________________________ Video chat with Windows Live Messenger Learn how http://windowslive.ninemsn.com.au/messenger/article/870686/video-chat-with-messenger
A rood is a bit under 4 metres in length. A perch is a little over 5 metre in length. A perch is also a measurement of area and is equal to about 25 square metres. A rood is also a measurement of area and is about a quarter of an acre or about 1000 sq metres Regards Chris -----Original Message----- From: aus-vic-geelong-district-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:aus-vic-geelong-district-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Sue Holloway Sent: Thursday, 14 January 2010 7:04 PM To: aus-vic-geelong-district@rootsweb.com Subject: [GEELONG] Land Files Hi Pam, Think it is the old measurements, fractions of an "Acre" of land, that is "Rood" and "Perches" (think that is how you spell it).
