Hi, I have a William Henry Price, born 1861 in Geelong. He married Elizabeth Drayton in Barrabool Hills in 1884. The marriage didn't last, and I can find no records of what became of him. I am aware of a CD of Passenger Lists VIC to NZ-1852-1923. (I was outbid on ebay for a copy of this CD). Does anyone have a copy, and willing to see if there are matches for WHP? Regards Doug Price
Hi Pam - one of my relatives Edward Goderich GREEVES (Carji) also played for the Geelong FC and won the first Brownlow Medal in 1924. He may have been there at the time of Tom Smith. I have records of a burial at Teesdale Cemetery of a Helen Pringle Knowles who married a James Miller at Teesdale, I don't know if there is any connection but it is an unusual name. Helen's parents were Andrew & Janet Knowles. Most of their children were born at Duck Ponds and one at Leigh Road, though I can't find the birth of Helen so perhaps she was born in Scotland. regards Dianne Hughes
Dear Sue, Here is what I think is the WILSON family John b.1852 Belfast (Port Fairy) Charles b.1854 ? (possibly Port Fairy) James b.1857 ? (possibly Port Fairy) William b.1859 (Ararat) George (This child is listed on the Birth Certificate of George Bailey without an age - may have died in infancy) George Bailey b.1861 (Geelong) Elizabeth b. 1864 (Geelong) Walter b.1866 (Cowies Creek) Agnes Purves b.1869 (Geelong) George's second Christian name 'BAILEY' does seem to have been the maiden name of his maternal grandmother Agnes PRINGLE (nee BAILEY). There appears to have been a lot of PRINGLES also in the Geelong area. Perhaps they were aunts, uncles and cousins.
