Hello listers and sorry for the cross posting. Last week a lady made contact with me re the above. Alfred Amos MURPHY was the son of John MURPHY and Annie Matilda WARREN born at Lexton 9th August 1876. This lady was Alfred Amos' g. granddaughter. As my computer crashed and I lost all emails I am hoping that she is subscribed to one of these lists and she can make contact with me again. Sally Flynn psflynn@bigpond.net.au

Hi , I hope you haven't taken any action on this, it is a HOAX the file "jdbgmgr.exe is a part of Windows, something to do with your computers ability to handl long file names, I believe. If you have removed it, I think you can find out how to replace it by going to this site http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/vinfodb.html then select the letter "J" from the alphabetical list, this will take you to a list of viruses that start with J, scroll down and you will find that it is listed as "jbdgmgr.exe hoax" Hope this helps. Hi Folks, Someone thinking they were being helpful posted a message re viruses to this list. ANY discussion on this subject is explicitly OFF TOPIC and now you can see the reason why - a warning that is a hoax and then others warning others that its a hoax. So, NO virus can come through rootsweb mailing lists as ANY attachments are removed and any HTML code is stripped and sent in plain text only. No need for any further comments - unfortunately we rely on people to follow the guidelines but when they send messages to EVERYONE in their address book and are legitimately subscribed to a list, these sort of messages sneak through. Thanks for your patience ............ and now, back to topics relating to Geelong and District!!!!!!!!! Regards ..... Susie Z, List Admin
THE "VIRUS" message That John C received is a HOAX. DO NOT follow the instructions he has set out. This hoax message has been on several lists for a couple of years and if you follow the instructions you will lose files. Most Lists ask that virus messages be posted to the Listowner and NOT to the list, for this very reason. I repeat, DO NOT follow the instructions. Cheers, Bob in Melbourne ----- Original Message ----- From: <Camojc@aol.com> To: <AUS-VIC-GEELONG-DISTRICT-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, August 12, 2003 10:32 PM Subject: [GEELONG] (no subject) > Hello everyone. > > Apologies. Sorry Carollyn - never come across the word 'Cornwall' before around Geelong. If you have a date for the Gun Club event I will check sale notices about that time - often new housing 'estates' were given their own special name. regards, Pam Jennings ----- Original Message ----- From: "Carollyn Williams" <wisteria@netspace.net.au> To: <AUS-VIC-GEELONG-DISTRICT-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, August 13, 2003 1:58 AM Subject: [GEELONG] Cornwall > Was there an area of Geelong known as Cornwall? Hi Carollyn, Can you confirm exactly where you got the information "b. Cornwall 1853"? That would probably lead to the answer. For example, the year of birth may have come from one source and the place of birth another. Someone may have calculated the year of birth from age at death or similar - this is very likely as there isn't an actual date, just a year. If someone then later found a marriage for this person, AND they used the Australian Vital Records Index, then the place of birth appearing on that marriage index could in fact have been the place of birth for that person's spouse - a known problem with the AVRI. I'm not familiar with a place called Cornwall in Geelong - we have Irishtown, Little Scotland, and Germantown. There was a barque 'Cornwall' which arrived in Melbourne in 1848. Another one on the same name in 1854 and 1855. Perhaps if you gave us some names we might be able to help. Regards ......
