    1. [GEELONG] RE: CONVICTIONS SHIPPING LISTS?
    2. Hello- Susie and all---MY computer is going crazy---All of a sudden it shoots windows over windows....I tried to add the AOL COACH and I think it got me part of the WORM thingy......Nothing shows up on the scan but something is amiss......so I will send this note through the list especially for the virus-free list and special lister: cocopops2003@optusnet.com.au or whomever had the CONVICTIONS SHIPPING LISTS (I think that is what it was called-but have lost records.).... James Clift Hill (b. 1827-maybe Newfoundland) "carpenter of Ashby" VIC,AU married 1854 (Reg#3007) Ruth Mitchell who was b.1833 Dorsetshire, ENG she died Sept 22,1856 at age 21 in VIC, AU (Ref #3962) She and son ate buried in East Geelong cemetery (I think-eh=Pam?) also seeking info on James brother WIlliam Clift Hill b. 1815 _"storekeeper in St. John' NF) at some point he may have married an Anne Hibbs(?) Nov 23, 1842--I think that they had two sons....Nathaniel and Samuel/// The two (James and William) went to Geelong together...and I suspect that William's family had died in NF prior to his going as he went into mining and never remarried... Some answers are out there....Any help appreciated...and please forgive me for sending this to the list if inappropriate. MArylyn Dewey Adams Ocala, Florida, USA

    2. Warragoon
    3. Hello Listers, My husband is doing some research on his family history and we were hoping someone out there on the List may be able to help with a few things. His great-grandfather Joshua METCALFE was born in 1825 at Gill Head (name of farm), Ingleton, Yorkshire, the birth being registered, we believe, at Lancaster, the nearest large town. His parents were Richard and Martha (Gorrell, Gorrill?). Joshua arrived in Australia in 1853 (we think - no record of the ship or where he landed but we think it was Geelong or Melbourne) and married Eliza Thomas in Geelong in 1855. Their issue was as follows:- Samuel, born Melbourne, 1856 died 1900 Martha Eliza, born Geelong, 1858 died Geelong, 1863 Eliza, born Ashby, 1859 Mary Frances, born Chilwell, 1862 Richard, born Chilwell, 1864 died Deniliquin, 1945 Joshua, born Chilwell, 1866 died 1866 Anne, born Chilwell 1866 died 1866 Joshua, born Geelong, 1868 Eva Adeline, born Mt. Moriac, 1870 Rosina, born Geelong, 1872 William Joshua, born Deniliquin(?), 1874 died Western Australia 1897, buried in Deniliquin Joshua and Eliza and family moved to Deniliquin in 1873. Joshua died in Deniliquin on 12th August, 1881. My husband, Bill, is a descendant of Richard so we have that part of the family well documented but we have no knowledge of what became of the rest of the family apart from William. Can any kind person throw some light on any of the above? Many thanks, Judy in Deniliquin.
