    1. [GEELONG] Marcus/Marquis
    2. Regina Craig
    3. Hi Made a mistake already. This is corrected. Sorry..... I'm new to this list, and am wondering if anyone knows anything about the Marcus/Marquis families. They are: Samuel Marcus and his wife Mary Wilson and his brother Henry Marcus and his wife Elizabeth Reid. They are from County Antrim in Ireland. All left Birkenhead and came to Geelong in 1856 on the "Nugget". I have a fairly comprehensive line on Samuel and Jane's descendants, and am interested in expanding on what I have on descendants of Henry and Elizabeth. Thank you if you can help. 2. Joanne Mitchell
    3. Hi Maria, I am interested to hear about your Geelong Fowler connection as I also have Fowler cousins. I do not have many details as we are not in contact with this branch of the family, but here is what I know: My grandfather's sister was Bernice Mary Stafford (1907-1979) who was born in Queensland. She moved to Geelong and married Francis (Frank) Fowler at an unknown date, but probably just before the beginning of WWII. She and Frank lived in Tannery Road, Marshall on the outskirts of Geelong and had 3 children: Margaret, Dennis and Justin. Margaret died as a young woman but both the boys married and raised families. I believe that Dennis died earlier this year, but do not have details. At this stage, I do not have further details for Frank Fowler as he only married into my Stafford line, but I find it interesting that the name Dennis appears in both our Fowler families. In addition, I believe that Frank was related to the Fowlers who owned the pharmacy of that name here in Geelong. I do not know if his family were originally Irish, but would not be at all surprised if we are looking for the same family. If any of this is of interest, please let me know. If we make a connection, I also have a couple of photos which may be of interest. 2. Ainslee Hooper
    3. Hi all, i was wondering if anyoone might have a copy of the geelong advertiser from last weekend or the weekend before. One of my great uncles John Evans passed away. In my gedcom file i can't find a John Evans so was hoping that the death notice might give more of an indication of who the person may be. I have 12 siblings in that family, some with James as the first name and John as the second name. Any help would be appreciated, thanks, Ainslee ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- List Administrator of Aus-german-l & hooper-ons-l www.ainsleehooper.com GOONS #3895 Hooper, worldwide.

    3. Hi Maria. I know of a Miss Aline Fowler who was the postmistress at Anakie. That would have been in the 1930's . till the 40's. I think there was a sister who lived there also. Anakie is about 30 to 40 klms from Geelong going towards Bacchus Marsh. Good luck. 3. Hi everyone, I'm from Ireland and new to the list. I'm hoping to get some info on my relatives who emigrated to the Geelong area. I would love to hear from anyone researching Fowler Families in Geelong with Irish ancestry. These are just some of the FOWLER family members that I am trying to research : - THOMAS FOWLER - Born 1864, Kilkenny, Ireland, Died 1934, Geelong Emigrated to Geelong in the late 1880's, where he married MARY RYAN. Their children were Stanley, Josephine ( born 1896), Dennis ( born 1898), Vincent ( born 1904). DANIEL FOWLER - Born 1866, Kilkenny, Ireland, Died 1948, Geelong Emigrated to Geelong in the 1890's, married CATHERINE RYAN in 1897. Their children were Mary ( born 1898), Annie ( born 1900) Denis ( born 1904), William ( born 1907) DANIEL FOWLER - Born c 1835, Kilkenny, Ireland, Died in 1930 - age 95 Emigrated to Breakwater, Geelong c 1861. Married twice, firstly to Mary Nolan in 1862 and to Mary Ellen Ward c 1893 THOMAS AND BRIDGET FOWLER : - I believe that Thomas and Bridget (whose maiden name was also Fowler) emigrated to Geelong in the early 1850's.
