    3. G'day Pam Next time I'm down at the records library I must look up your book. In regards to the Inquest, what I have, appears to be a modern handwritten transcription of the proceedings which includes witness statements. I assume that these were taken from some official publication, but I cannot be sure of that. I would be happy to send you a copy if you would like them. It might make interesting reading for someone. Unfortunately I am only just beginning to unravel this family history, so I cannot add much more at this time. 3. Hi Helene and all the Trewin connections - yes I did remember to try and remember who this was and the name now escapes me yet again, but I think the GSV in Melbourne were to get a copy of her works - I know it was a woman (and I think her married name was Trewin). This was back in the 1980's that I had contact and she was trying to finalise her work before going to print. I had remote connections to a marriage of a Trewin and didn't really persue the matter as the Vic BDM's then came out and all was revealed! I am having a cleanup of many of my papers so will see what comes up in the next few days! regards, Pam Jennings ----- Original Message ----- From: "Helene Hayes" <mungungo@nex.net.au> To: <AUS-VIC-GEELONG-DISTRICT-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, December 31, 2003 9:57 AM Subject: [GEELONG] Trewin Family/Geelong/Deans Marsh > Happy New Year Everyone. > > I have been helping a friend research her Trewin Family some of whom lived > around the Geelong/Deans Marsh area. > > I have just had a browse through the archives and there was some messages a > couple of years ago re this family. 3. Hi Helen, I'm connected to Lawrence/Ann Trewin (nee Martin) via Ann's parents William and Grace Barrett. My GG Grandfather (I'm not sure whether that is enough GG/s or not!) Edwin Trewin was Ann's brother. Quite a few of the Martin family followed Ann and Lawrence out from Cornwall to Geelong. I have quite a bit of information, mainly on the Martins but some Trewin info as well. Unfortunately I've just acquired a new computer and so am in a bit of chaos just at present. I recall seeing a booklet on the Trewin family at the Geelong Family History Group rooms and would be happy to supply what info I have and what I can find in that book if this is of interest to you. Let me know if I can help. 2. Pam: You and Susie are SO amazing....Here I sit a gazillion miles away (doing little but reveling in what you all provide for us) and you offer still more!!! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, and a HAPPY AND PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE ON THIS CONGENIAL SITE!!! Marylyn D. Adams Ocala, Florida, USA Searching in AU: (Queenscliff, Victoria area---I think/guess) James and Ruth Mitchell Hill and descendants, and (elusive brother) William Hill and whomever......... These brothers were sons of... (hold your breath!) .....Nathaniel and Emlyn Clift Hill---he was a prominent carpenter in St John's Newfoundland---they had come from UGBOROUGH, DEVONSHIRE, ENGLAND where they were married. James was "carpenter of Ashby"....Ruth and he were married in 1854 in Geelong......supposedly had a son named George who died in 1879----at age 21---the "bootmaker of Preston Street" My direct ancestor was their brother George Clift(on) Rowland Hill, who, evidently, never traveled to AU but from his accounts---one of the two (James or William) was in "mining" and the other into "sheepraising"...... Any and all help greatly appreciated.....It is only from ones on this list, (PAM, Susie, BLINKYBILL esp) that I have garnered the present information.
