    3. Hi Robyn, Lang brought out three shiploads of immigrants to Victoria and three shiploads to Queensland, plus there were 26 dispatched on the Duke of Portland which sailed to Sydney in 1850 - that's the closest I could find to anything mentioning "Portland" !!! His emigration scheme was only first mooted in 1845. In 1837, "he (Lang) was able to pursuade the British Government to despatch some 4,000 Scots in 18 ships to New South Wales." - this was part of the Highland and Island Emigration Scheme, not Lang's emigration scheme. I presume this was when your family came out? Sorry - can't help any more on those voyages. The ships Lang was responsible for ......... Larpent, Travancore and Clifton to Vic Fortitude, Chaseley and Lima to Queensland He also landed "22 young men" in Sydney - they were to train for the ministry - they were on the Duke of Portland in 1850. Hope that helps ....... 1. [GEELONG] Mervyn Mann of the Union Bank, GEELONG 1842-1856
    2. Janice M. Wilson
    3. Hi! I seek information on Mervyn Mann, the first manager of the Union Bank in Geelong in 1842-1845. He was also in Geelong in 1852-1855. Mervyn had been the accountant in Launceston since the bank's foundation in 1838, and had earlier been an employee of the Van Diemen's Land Co. from 1832 or earlier. He is said to have married Ellen Jenkisson from Limerick and is known to have had at least three children, Mary Emily Florence (m. 1 John Binny, m. 2 John Ferguson), Annetta (m. William Dines of Geelong in 1846), and a son Mervyn who died early and is buried in Geelong. Both daughters moved to Brisbane and further details are available. I have only found references to Mervyn Snr in the Clyde Co. Papers, and a book on "The Hentys". Family anecdote suggests he died during a return voyage to England abt 1855. Any connections or suggestions for further sources would be welcomed. Janice

They are buried next to Edmund in the Eastern Geelong Cemetery. Any leads would be welcomed. Regards, Rochelle
