    3. Hi folks, Just a follow up, I had a lovely weekend in Geelong with my cousin. He no longer has the jet balck hair that I remember, but then neither do I.:-) Spent Saturday afternoon going through photos, and I now have copies of photos of my g-ggrandparents, and other members of the family. Sunday we did our cemetery visiting to Lethbridge and Steiglitz. He knew where all the family graves were, and as most of them have quite substantial headstones, I now have more photograpohs to add to the family hiostory. Have to go back again for Geelong Western. And a bonus. With the help of another lister, I may have found a previously unknown cousin, and one who lives barely half an hours drive from me. All thanks to this list. 1. [GEELONG] Quadrille Office - Mapping office?
    2. Hello listers, In an earlier message I asked if anyone had heard of a Quadrille Office in Geelong in 1858. The list was particularly quiet on this one so I googled and came up with the idea that it may have been a government mapping office. This idea was based on the fact that there is still available quadrille graph paper which can be used in mapping (and because I have absolutely no other ideas!). Is there some kind soul who could look up directories for the period and see if there was a mapping office listed, or any other government office in Malop St East? With thanks, -- Jenny Coates (Boyer) Harkaway, Victoria

    3. Dean you could possibly try some of the directories for that time, some libraries and the pro have some but you would have to check what is available, the old post office ones ( not sure when they stopped) had listings of who was in a street and also by surname, I found my husbands fathers street address by this, his birth certificate only gave the street, the directory gave the number, could help especially if anyone else may have lived with her. 3. Some fellow in Melbourne has some old postcards with pictures of Geelong right now on Ebay. They are only two or three bucks, and of course the postage is low. Go to ebay and type in Geelong postcard ... just asking about "Geelong" will bring you a zillion football souvenirs. No, I don't know this cat and I'm not working on commission! I just thought they looked kind of nice. 3. Hi Peter, I was speaking to mum's cousin Pam Chitty about family history today. She was telling me that many years ago she can remember her parents going to visit an old lady in Coombs Street Kew. Her family name was Coombs matching the street and the street was named after her family. Pam was also told this lady was a member of the family. These events probaly took place in the 1950s. I wonder who she was? Take Care Dean
