    3. Dianne, there is a thomas george munsor who married a margaret chapple he was born in tas. may be a son. They had several children. Keep in mind if he died in 1850's it may have been he took off for the goldfields and may even have died there, there are a number of deaths in the indexes as unknown. Some 4000 unknown deaths are listed on the pioneers index although some have a first name many do not. Also if he just dissappeared would she have been able to marry again. We have a wife who dissapears and our only clue is a listing on the husbands second marriage certificate that he had been a widower since april 1853. We have not to this day found any sign of where she died. good luck let me know if you want any of the chn of thomas george. good luck linda edwards ----- Original Message ----- From: "Dianne Vickers" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, June 15, 2007 5:28 PM Subject: [GEELONG] Missing: Munsor/Capper/Scott in Geelong > Hi everyone, > > Hoping someone can help me with some apparently missing bmd's. > > My ancestor Thomas MUNSOR (MUNSON, MANSON, MANSER, MUNSER) b c1808 > arrived in Tasmania 1838 (convict). 1. [GEELONG] Missing: Munsor/Capper/Scott in Geelong
    2. Dianne Vickers
    3. Hi everyone, Hoping someone can help me with some apparently missing bmd's. My ancestor Thomas MUNSOR (MUNSON, MANSON, MANSER, MUNSER) b c1808 arrived in Tasmania 1838 (convict). He married Amelia Sarah CAPPER (b. c1824 Newcastle Under Lyme, Staff)in Tasmania, and they had two children there; Thomas b 1847 and Mary Anne b 1848. The couple next turned up in Newtown, Victoria with the birth in 1850 of daughter, Sarah. After searching for months for Amelia and Thomas snr MUNSOR, on a whim I entered CAPPER into the Vic Historic BDM's and found records for children of Amelia CAPPER and William SCOTT(who died 1866), and then records for Amelia's third marriage to Thomas HARGREAVES. I haven't been able to find three events: Amelia apparently married William SCOTT around 1855 and had a son William SCOTT around 1858 in Geelong (according to information recorded on later children's birth records) and Thomas MUNSOR seems to have disappeared between the 1850 parish reg of his daughter Sarah and the remarriage of his wife 1855? but I can't find a death record. I would be okay with not finding a death record, I know quite a few weren't recorded, but to miss all three bdm's makes me wonder if there's some records missing for Geelong around that time? Any help would be vastly appreciated! Di Vickers

    3. Hi Maureen, I can do them for you but my computer is having issues so my son has given me a basic one to use until he gets mine a new hard drive on Sunday. He's only just dropped this off to me and I'm unsure if my scanner will work as yet. I'll give it a go tomorrow (I'm busy reading 2 days of emails!), if it does I will scan them and email them to you, otherwise it will be early next week. The CD's are not expensive - perhaps your local library may also be buying them if they like mine have a good genealogy librarian. They are also doing other states in Australia for those interested. 3. Hi Joan, The Terang & District Family History Group have about 155 volumes of the Victorian Government Gazettes, 1856 - 1919. There are possibly some gaps in those years. The library is at the Terang Primary Campus in a room below the Historical Museum. Hours of opening:- 2nd & 4th Wednesdays 1.00pm to 4.00pm & the 3rd Sunday of the month, 1.00pm to 4.00pm. If you attend on a school day, you will need to report at the school office to obtain a Visitor's Pass. The Primary Campus is at the western end of the town. Drive past the school, turn right at the Thomson Memorial Church & take the side road back to the school. Hope this is clear. Good luck. 3. Hi Margaret, I thought Patrick BOLGER rang a bell - if he's the same one, he was a witness (along with Mary BOADMAN) to the baptism of Lucinda Margaret KEATING on 25 June 1847 at St Francis RC Melbourne. Lucinda's parents were Jeffrey James KEATING from Limerick and Margaret NELSON from Donegal. I've often wondered if the witnesses were related or just friends. Hello Helen, Before you ask someone to check, you can always check yourself first to see if there are any GRACE or CORBET(T) references and if they might be your family (based on first names etc) by checking the Geelong & District Consolidated Book Index (and the other on-line indexes). There are about 190 "local" books indexed in this database including "Bullockies ... " http://www.zades.com.au/geelong/gdtopic.htm Regards .............
