    2. Irene R
    3. Hi Listers I am a new member to this list and I am trying to find out about my husband s family. Evan REES and wife Naomi nee LEYSHON, together with two children, Catherine and William, arrived in Geelong aboard the 'Guy Mannering' on 20 Aug 1857. The next child, Margaret was b abt 1858 in Ballarat, but the rest of their children (five) were all born in Carngham. Evan was a miner. He died in Egerton aged 58 in 1886. When Naomi died in 1914, she was living in Ballarat at 19 Morres Street, Ballarat. I am wondering if this street still exists. Is there anyone out there who can advise me how to find out any further family history on this lot please? Anything will be most gratefully received. Many thanks Irene R on the Gold Coast http://www.tribalpages.com/tribes/Brent44 -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Free Edition. 3. Hello Matt I have a few snippets on the ULBRICH family once they came to Williamstown (he was headteacher of Williamstown North SS), but know little of his background or his time in Bellarine. He was german, I believe, and he ran his school with military precision, bawled out his teachers in front of other members of staff, locked children in outside privies for punishment and forgot about them, trained his sons and capable students in markmanship, sons interested in schoolteaching and military pursuits. I know years ago I collected much information from education correspondence, and from "Special Files". It was reported in the "Williamstown Chronicle" 24 Oct 1874 that he was building a new home at the rear of North Willliamstown School in Station Street which was to be ten or eleven rooms with detached premises (It was noted that he intended to here board pupil-teachers who would pay for their tuition). I'm not sure if he had permission for such from the Education powers, but I vaguely remember that the boarders complained of the "in house" chores demanded of them, even though they were paying boarders. But it's nearly thirty years ago I did that research and, whilst those snippets stay in my memory, the actual research notes are long gone. I do have a couple of short notes on two of his sons from local newspapers, also, if they interest you. Regards Ada Ada Ackerly. 3. Thanks Linda, The Thomas George Munsor you mention is my gt gt grandfather, so have all his details, just can't find what happened to his father, who was also Thomas Munsor. Just seemed strange that all three supposed Geelong bdm's over a short period of years don't seem to be recorded. If I could know that, within reason, all the Geelong bdm's were intact, then I guess I have to consider that maybe my gt gt gt grandfather did a runner, and my gt gt gt grandmother never married her supposed second husband, nor recorded the birth of their first son because she wasn't married... thanks again, Dianne > Dianne, > > there is a thomas george munsor who married a margaret chapple he > was born > in tas. > may be a son.
