    1. [GEELONG] Admin message - not off topic! GEELONG FOOTBALLERS
    2. BJ & MJ Hallyburton
    3. Hi Susie and List Members, I must say that with the majority of my mother's side of the family coming from Geelong and areas I can not say that I lay claim to any family members who played for VFL or AFL Geelong. Sad as it may seem. I do NOT barrack for Geelong, BUT I did scream today for them. After all I WAS born in Geelong, so part of me feels happy for them. I have yet to speak to my Nana who has been a Geelong supporter ALL her 91 years, but I bet she is one happy lady. Maybe one day when I have a few more family lines done I may yet find a Geelong player in there. That said I can say that my father "played" football for the Geelong Reserves in 1967. He played at the time of Doug Wade, Polly Farmer and Peter Pianto (I think that's his name?). Does any one on this list lay claim to any Geelong players, past or present? Good on the CATS....... Long live Geelong. Melissa.

    3. Hi Sandra - sorry for the late reply - my husband and I have just returned from a trip to Darwin to meet up with my daughter and son-in-law who are travelling around Australia this year. There are a couple of B & B in central Geelong - I have no idea of what they are like as I have not needed to use them of course! There are also several motels in central Geelong as well so that may also be an option: (When are you heading this way and I can get some costs etc for you?) 1. 3. Chris, this link has an information sheet from the public records office re wills. http://www.access.prov.vic.gov.au/public/PROVguides/PROVguide068/PROVguide068.jsp You do need to consult the index which is not currently online I believe but is available at some family history centres and libraries. Some records are being digitised though. The PRO used to be at laverton but has newer rooms with the national victorian archive centre, now at north melbourne. There is also a ballarat centre. There is a land titles office at laverton but the website says it does aerial photography the CBD office has historical plans. For land titles there is a website with online service but you need details of the land I believe. www.land.vic.gov.au although they do have historic info on titles I dont htink they are really geared for family history searches. mainly legal land titles info. hope it helps linda
