    3. I am researching for a friend. I have Michael Cahill as a grazier, living at "Avondale" in Yea. His wife Ellen (nee Kenny) died in 1912 and he moved to Hawthorn, Melbourne to be with his daughter Ellen Cavanagh until his death in 1914. In the Yea Chronicle of Dec 18 1912, there is an obituary for Ellen. She was described as an old colonist and a pioneer of the district. She was the daughter of the late Mr James Kenny, and was born in County Roscommon, Ireland in 1836. Twenty six years later she arrive in Victoria and after three years residence in Victoria married Michael Cahill in Kilmore. Shortly afterwards they moved to Yea. Their children were Thomas (living in Hobart in 1912), Ellen Cavanagh (Hawthorn in 1912), Mrs (probably Johanna) Bowler (Western Australia in 1912), Kate (who later married a Mr O'Connor), Denis and John. In a Victorian Directory for 1911, there are entries for Michael and Denis as graziers in Yea. However in 1913, it is just Michael and then by 1919 neither appear. I would be interested in any information about this family or about Avondale. Does it still exist today? Regards Sue
