    3. Is there anyone who has a cause to go to the Avenel Cemetery please? I am trying to obtain both/or any of the following two: The wording on the headstone for William WILLIAMS who died in Avenel 29 June 1915 and was buried Avenel on 30 June 1915 Ceremony performed by Presbyterian minister (just in case they have religious sections for burial). Also the Burial registration entry (if at all possible). Another thought would be an obituary if there would have been a local paper. Anything that might assist me in finding out his true age, from where in England he was born, or the like. He never married and I hope there may be just something else, other than the information I have on his death certificate, that might enable me to trace him back further in England. Thereby giving me information on his mother, who is my second great grandmother. Any assistance at all would be greatly appreciated. Claire Cook Houston Texas

    3. Claire I am heading down to Victoria mid year to do some research in the newspapers amongst other places - if you don't get anywhere between now and then I could check for an obit. for you if you like. Let me know via the list how things pan out - the State Library in Brisbane doesn't have the country newspapers otherwise I'd be glad to check it out for you there before then. 3. Dear Clair I was just at Avenel on Saturday and could have easily had a look. They have some records pinned to the shed door and I copied them down ages ago, so checked on them just now. There are 3 Williams buried there, one William Williams is buried in an unknown grave and the other two do not have a christian name in these records, but they at least know which row they are in, but whether they have a headstone or not I don't know without going there. Perhaps you might like to write to - The Secretary Avenel Cemetery, Mrs Joyce White, Queen St, Avenel 3664. And enclose a reply paid envelope, she may be helpful and at least tell you if there is a headstone and perhaps even what is inscribed on it.
